Training course on the use of animals in procedures for research and educational purposes
Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana is organizing a Training course on the use of animals in procedures for research and educational purposes.
We would like to inform you that the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana is organizing a Training course on the use of animals in procedures for research and educational purposes.
The course is organised in thematic modules. The core modules are aimed at all categories of personnel who work with or supervises work with animals in procedures: animal cartakers, scientists and technicians carrying out procedures, project managers and animal welfare officers. Other modules are tailored to specific roles.
The training will take place from October to December 2025 in the afternoons at the Veterinary Faculty. The planned start date is 13 October 2025.
Only appropriately trained personnel who fulfil the requirements of the Regulations on the Conditions for Performing Procedures on Animals (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 32/21) may work with animals in procedures for research and educational purposes. One of the requirements is the successful completion of basic training to the prescribed extent.
Thematic modules and their duration: animal caretakers - EU function C totalling 30 hours, scientists or persons performing procedures on animals – EU function A totalling 40 hours, project managers – EU function B and animal welfare officers – 80 hours.
Course fees (excluding VAT):

| Persons carrying out procedures on animals (40 hours) | 800 EUR |
| * Refresher training (40 hours) | 800 EUR |
| Course for persons designing projects (80 hours) | 1.000 EUR |
| Animal welfare officers (laboratory animals) (80 hours) | 1.000 EUR |
*The refresher training course is aimed at returning participants who have already completed the course for cariying out procedures and are now applying for the project manager or animal welfare officer modules.
The fee includes lectures and practical work, study material, refreshments during breaks, examination and the certificate of successful completion.
The above prices are subject to the condition that at least 15 participants register for the course.

The course fee must be paid before the start of the course. Registered participants will be informed of the final schedule prior to the start of the course. At the end of the course, candidates will take an exam. Those who pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion.
