Clinic for Reproduction and Large Animals

The Clinic for Reproduction and Large Animals comprises the following units:

Clinical and epidemiological diagnostics of diseases of cattle, sheep, goats and pigs are performed at the Clinic for Ruminants and Pigs. The clinic deals with the treatment and prevention of diseases and performs various surgical procedures.

The clinic advises breeders and veterinarians on diagnostic procedures, treatment and disease prevention, and also provides education for future veterinarians as well as carrying out research.

Two laboratories operate within the Clinic for Ruminants and Pigs:

• Laboratory for Clinical Pathology, where haematological, biochemical and hormonal blood tests are carried out, as well as tests on urine, milk and other biological specimens for various species of animals
• Laboratory for serology, where serological diagnosis of pig diseases is performed

Clinic for horses

Diagnosis, treatment, prevention of horse diseases, advice for breeders and veterinarians.

Department for the Selective Breeding of Equidae

Issuance of identification documents, keeping a central register of equidae, herd books, performing professional tasks in the field of livestock breeding.

Clinical and laboratory diagnostics of reproductive disorders and assisted reproduction of domestic animals.

The Centre, which is located in the Karst area on the Vremščica plateau, carries out education and research activities, and is also known for its organic production of sheep's milk and excellent sheep's cheese.
