In addition to domestic animal species, the clinic also cares for and treats wildlife, the most common birds, as well as certain reptile and mammal species.

Work

Diseases of birds, small mammals and reptiles are diagnosed and treated at the Clinic for Birds, Small Mammal and Reptiles, which operates within the Institute of Poultry, Birds, Small Mammals and Reptiles.

The clinic expands and transfers its knowledge to veterinary medicine students and veterinarians, as well as to the general public, by contributing to various domestic and foreign congresses and journal publications. It also cooperates with renowned local and foreign experts in various fields (veterinary, biology, medicine), through which it expands, improves and expands knowledge.

Veterinary medicine for birds, small mammals and reptiles is an important branch of veterinary medicine in Slovenia. Patients in the clinic are:

  • birds: domestic birds (parrots, songbirds), wild captive birds (captive birds of prey, zoo birds), wild birds
  • small mammals: ferrets, rabbits, small rodents (guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, degu, rats, gerbils and others)
  • reptiles: turtles, snakes, lizards

 

Wildlife

In addition to domestic animal species, the clinic also cares for and treats wildlife, the most common birds, as well as certain reptile and mammal species. It offers these animals a variety of treatments, care and advanced diagnostics.
